I sincerely appreciate the strong showing of support for my re-election this past November by the citizens of Newport News. It is an honor and a privilege to represent this great City of ours and I look forward to working hard in the Virginia General Assembly to bring about a better quality of life for the citizens of Newport News and Virginia as a whole.

The 2008 General Assembly session has begun, and I have introduced several bills this session and encourage you to take a look at them. I would appreciate your sharing your thoughts and ideas on the bills I am carrying and any bills we are considering this session.

As the Delegate representing the 94th District, I have heard loud and clear that voters expect their Delegates to study the issues, ask tough questions, and make responsible decisions regardless of political consequences.

DELEGATE ODER NAMED VICE CHAIRMAN - TRANSPORTATION COMMITTEE

On January 9th, 2008, Delegate G. Glenn Oder was named Vice Chairman of the House Transportation Committee by Speaker of the House William J. Howell.

"I am honored to be named Vice Chairman" said Delegate Oder. "I look forward to working on the transportation committee to move Virginia forward in its efforts to solve the growing transportation challenges we face."

DELEGATE ODER NAMED CHAIRMAN OF HOUSING SUBCOMMITTEE

Recently, Delegate Oder was honored to be named the Chairman of the Housing Subcommittee of the General Laws committee. This is an important position from which to advance and encourage greater attention on the importance of affordable housing and other housing related issues.

In addition to his chairmanship of the Housing subcommittee, Delegate Oder maintained his seniority on all of the other committees he serves on. He continues to serve on House Transportation, General Laws, and Counties, Cities and Towns committees.

Delegate Oder is a former Principal Deputy Director of the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development and has extensive experience in Housing policy issues in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
